No matter how small your accident was, you can still get compensation if you get hurt. We’ll talk about the usual reasons for slipping and falling, the injuries that can happen, and how you can ask for compensation. Follow this guide for all the info you need.

What Are the Common Causes of Slip and Fall Accidents?

Uneven or Wet Surfaces

Slip and fall accidents are most often caused by these areas, whether it is uneven sidewalks or wet floorboards. This list will help you to solidify your claim.

  • Cluttered floors
  • Poorly constructed staircases
  • Potholes (Sidewalks, roads, parking lots)
  • Carpets that are worn out
  • Loose floorboards
  • Freshly mopped surfaces without warnings
  • Freshly waxed floors without warning signs
  • Condensed or moist floors

Weather Conditions

Although the weather is a natural thing, certain conditions can make walking surfaces risky. Winter and rainy seasons, especially, lead to many injuries and deaths. So, people need to be careful. The owners of places are legally responsible for keeping their property safe. They need to take care of the following:

  • Shoveling the streets and plowing them
  • Salting walkways during winter
  • Continue to mop wet floors in the rainy season
  • Water on surfaces can be controlled by using mops or mats

If they fail to take the necessary precautions, then they may be held liable for any injuries that occur due to weather-caused negligence.

Poor Presence of Lighting

Bad lighting is sometimes ignored when we talk about uneven floors or not enough support. It can make people slip and fall, especially in old buildings or public places. Owners need to make sure that all parts of the building are well-lit because this helps people see, especially at night. Stairways, walkways, and sidewalks must have enough light, or else it can lead to accidents.
